Great Start 4 wins from 17 runners 24% strike rate

09 October 2017

The horses are all in great heart and with the ground safe last week we decided to make a start by running our first winter horses.

Drinks Interval made it a winning hurdles debut on her seasonal reappearance in the 8 runner Francis Clark Mares' Novices Hurdle, in touch throughout she jumped quick and accurately under Robbie Power to win comfortably by 2 3/4 lengths for The Land Value Partnership.

Sizing Platinum provided us with the second leg of a double on the day, sent off 11/8F in the Class 3 2 mile Handicap Chase where he made all to win comfortably by 14 lengths under Robbie Power for Ann & Alan Potts Ltd. This was a drop in class for Sizing Platinum who despite ground concerns (heavy) proved too good for the 5 runner field, his first win since Galway in 2015. This was a real confidence boost for the horse who has coe out of the race very well indeed.

On Friday we were fortunate enough to have another double courtesy of Wizards Bridge & Buckhorn Timothy.

Wizards Bridge clearly loves Fontwell having won there last season and despite not looking the likely winner 2 out he kept on one paced to win by a neck for The Butterwick Syndicate. A good ride by Mitch Bastyan who was having his first ride for us in the Conditional Jockeys Handicap Chase, will definately be using him again.

Buckhorn Timothy not seen on a racecourse since early December last year returned to winning ways in the James Todd Handicap Hurdle over 3m 2f for The Buckhorn Racing Team he outstayed his 6 rivals and jumped like a bunny under Harry Cobden he clearly enjoyed being reverted back to hurdles.

We also had some good placed efforts namely Bramble Brook,Mick Thonic and Valhalla who will all come on for the run.

A lot to look forward to this coming weekend with multiple runners including some of the big guns providing this drying ground is safe of course.
